Vietnam Blockchain Summit (VBS) 2018 was officially held on June 8, 2018 in Hanoi, in collaboration with the Digital Economy & E-Commerce Department (iDEA) and the Vietnam E-commerce Association (VECOM).
The summit attracts the direct participation of over 500 delegates and thousands of people knowing about the event online. VBS 2018 is a great and quality event focused on policy development, research, development, training and application of blockchain technology in the future.
The summit opened with a presentation of VECOM that clarified the nature of the blockchain technology and its diverse applications; Compared the role of blockchain technology in the digital economy with TCP / IP technology for the Internet and the implications of relevant policies.

Session 2 with the theme “Applying Blockchain Technology in a number of areas” discusses three main subject groups:
- Advantages and disadvantages of using blockchain technology in the field of logisitics;
- Advantages and disadvantages of using blockchain technology in the field of traceability of agricultural products and foodstuffs;
- Sharing and introducing blockchain applications in a number of other typical areas.
Session 3 with the theme “Policy Promoting Research and Application of Blockchain Technology”. Representatives for this session included the government agencies (STAMEQ/GS1 Vietnam, E-Commerce and Digital Economy Center, National Authentication Center – MIC); Research and training organizations (Ho Chi Minh City Polytechnic University) and group of companies applying and building solutions based on blockchain.
GS1 Vietnam Representative presented the blockchain application in traceability and the effective role of GS1 for facilitating blockchain.
