From May 24th to 25th, 2017 in Ho Chi Minh City, GS1 Vietnam hosted the ASEAN region MO coordination meeting which was organized by GS1 GO.
Attending the event there were Mr. Partrik Jonasson – GS1 Global Public Policy Director, Mr. Nguyen Hoang Linh – Deputy Director of the Directorate for Standards, Metrology and Quality of Vietnam (STAMEQ) – the governing body of GS1 Vietnam together with CEOs of GS1 Hong Kong, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Ms. Mary Wong – Deputy General Director, GS1 Peru.
Mr. Nguyen Hoang Linh delivered the keynote speech highlighting that STAMEQ hosting successfully APEC 2017 in Vietnam. He also mentioned how grateful are the APEC workshops on best practices sharing of standards and conformity assessment on many fields including GDS in Ho Chi Minh city.
The main content of the ASEAN region MO coordination meeting is to discuss and to share best practices on expanding GS1 standards application. This is one good opportunity for all to learn each other experiences. He also informed that Ho Chi Minh City is one of the largest foodstuffs markets in the country. To deal with unsafe foods, the city has taken management actions to ensure people’s wellbeing, the rights of legitimate producers and traders of foodstuffs. One of the actions is STAMEQ to promote GS1 keys as one leading national traceability solution./.
