From 8th to 9th March 2013, GS1 attended the 3rd ASEAN-EU Business Summit in Hanoi.
With more than 700 participants from the business community, Government and media as well as series of high-profile, international speakers including Mr. John Keogh – Director of GS1 Products and Consumer Safety Section – the ESEAN-EU Business Summit facilitated a vibrant debate leading to the successful identification of a series of recommendations to the ESEAN and EU political leaders.
The 3rd ASEAN-EU Business Summit aims to convene entrepreneurs, private investors and policy makers from both ASEAN and the EU to build on what was achieved in the past two editions and to present stakeholders with key recommendations from the business community. The aim of the Summit is to build upon the results from 2012 and to discuss opportunities, challenges and recommendations for an enhanced business environment between one of the world’s fastesst growing economic block, the ASEAN and the European Union (EU).
In the meeting, Mr. John Keogh at his presentation, hilighted the importance of GS1 standards and solutions implementation which can unite supply chains and can meet many APEC requirements, correlating with the abilities of GS1, such as:
– Increasing one role of APEC as a leader, a manager and a supervisor of initiatives on standardizing in supply chain.
- Connecting partners in supply chain.
- Increasing the productivity and safety.
- Creating the transparency through out the supply chain.
- Providing the factual information on products transportation in the supply chain…
After the Summit, GS1 have met and asked APEC Vietnam to support the GS1 Global Data Standards project aiming at facilitating supply chains in the whole world.
